The Pike County Humane Society, located in Milford, is facing extinction. Funds for this shelter is a serious problem. Director of the Shohola shelter, Barry Heim, has helped build the shelter from nothing. The employees who work and volunteer there don't believe in caging the animals, the dogs are let out in the mornings to run around in the fenced-in yard.  Every animal adopted from the PCHS have been vaccinated, dewormed, treated with flea/tick repellent, and most have been spayed/neutered.
