PINE RIDGE: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE. |
|
Last Saturday roughly 300 people were crammed into the Pine Ridge community center to get answers from the community association board regarding the security and office staff. The Pine Ridge Board president stated that the board did not initially fire the absent employees. Community members were very upset with the idea of no security watching the community, the question of public safety and the issue of guns came up in this meeting many times. There were also times when chaos broke out during the meeting as community members screamed at each other and board members left the center to talk on the phone or to other board members in private. The board offered no precise answer as to what happened or to who is handling public safety. At the end of the meeting the board had finally decided to fire all of the employees. The Pine Ridge community manager stated that several of the staff were out sick with bronchitis and have the proper medical documentation to prove it. Another employee was away at a training seminar that took a long weekend to complete. A proposal from Vector security is being considered, but this would only offer 2 people on duty at a time, and cost over $100,000. The contract between the fired community manager and Pine Ridge will be left to litigation.
